An entirely new genre of Scottish Inns, the Inn at Inverbeg is Scotland’s first boutique inn.
The Inn at Inverbeg scoops prestigious AA Pub of the Year Award
The Inn at Inverbeg was named AA Pub of the Year Scotland at the highly regarded AA Hospitality Awards 2009-2010 on Monday 28 September. The glamorous black-tie ceremony was hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky and held at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
The AA Hospitality Awards are the most prestigious and respected national awards of their kind. Attended by the cream of the hospitality world, including leading chefs, hoteliers and restaurateurs it is a huge achievement for the newly reopened Inn at Inverbeg. Every AA establishment is automatically eligible to win one of their coveted awards which recognise and reward the excellent services provided by the UK’s very best establishments and launches the 2010 AA guides to UK hotels and restaurants. Selection is made based on overall excellence and the specific achievements throughout the previous year.
The Inn at Inverbeg, set back on the A82 and previously known as Inverbeg Inn, first opened in 1814 and has served as a watering hole for generations of travellers. Over the years it has exchanged ownership, but in June 2007 the Colquhoun family, owners of nearby Lodge on Loch Lomond Hotel, purchased the Inn. Following a short closure and a multi-million pound reinvestment this historical landmark was reopened fully redesigned offering the local community and those travelling the West of Scotland a stunningly designed Inn with excellent food, drink, entertainment and accommodation.
Leading the design process, Ann Colquhoun has created a perfect place to unwind, with uniquely stylized public spaces incorporating furniture in a range of leather and cow hide. Modern accommodation, 12 Inn rooms and eight beautiful, luxury Beach House rooms situated by Loch Lomond, have been painstakingly developed. The Inn at Inverbeg has successfully secured a 4-star VisitScotland Inn grading.
Niall Colquhoun, owner of The Inn at Inverbeg said: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award. Transforming The Inn at Inverbeg into the stylish, inviting place it is today has taken time and dedication from Graham Kelly, general manager, and the entire team. It is fantastic for this to be recognised by the highly respected AA hospitality awards”.
AA Hotel Services Group Area Manager Giovanna Grossi said: “We selected the Inn at Inverbeg as Pub of the Year Scotland because this traditional Scottish Inn dating back to 1814 has been stylishly and sympathetically refurbished, creating a destination pub for both locals and travellers alike and offers excellent food, friendly attentive service, stunning accommodation and a great range of real ales and Scottish whiskies.”
